  • gamma gamma website

So... you have to check out what my amazingly talented big bro Nick has been working on...

It's the FDC Gamma Gamma chapter website: www.phidexgammax2.com

It's being updated all the time, but it's looking awesome so far! Make sure to go to the collegiate brother section and scan over the pictures with the mouse... it's funny. I'm so excited too... on Tuesday, we are having our pinning ceremony for our 11 new pledges.

Other than that, everything has been insane lately. My car is having major issues that I'm hopefully going to get checked out for the third time tomorrow. Almost didn't make it up my driveway today after it shutting off on me three times in the last few days. Sometime this week (not sure what day yet), I will hopefully be commissioned and sworn in to the Air Force. It will be official then... I'm excited but not holding my breath... everything so far with that scholarship has been super last minute so we'll see what happens. Anyway, that's a small fraction of everything going on this week. Can't explain it all, I'd have to write a book! =) I'm just taking it one day at a time.

OH.... and I have the coolest patient. My nursing home patient played the guitar for me today and sang. He only seemed to know one song, but that's alright! Then there was another lady that I walked down the hall, and she asked me about my kids. When I said I didn't have any, she told me, "well, you better get on those babies before it's too late". Oh, you just never know what to expect around there. lol... but there will be no babies anytime soon coming from anywhere around here... that's for certain! =)

  • osteoporosis psa

OK... so last week in class, we were supposed to make a public service announcement about osteoporosis. It could be about anything we wanted... a drug, an alternative treatment, or just what you can do to avoid it... we didn't have much direction at all, so we decided to take the risk factor awareness approach... and we had a little fun with it! So in case you have nothing better to do with your life, check it out (below) =) Note: we only had about 20 minutes to put this together, so don't judge too much!

Another note: video vocals by Taylor Giese... she even sounds awesome singing about skeletal disorders! =) lol... You can also find her here on myspace music.

Well... it's the beginning of a new year.

    Anything can happen.

  • distraction

"Watermelons ... they are the best distraction" -Wes from this movie I'm watching.

    Good movie.

    :)

  • Washington, DC... here I come!

So, I am officially settled into my new place now that I'm back from Cali. A few things to organize still, but all is well and so far it has been nice living on my own. The only thing I've had trouble with so far is waking up in the morning! You don't realize how much the little sounds of another person moving around will make sure you wake up until no one else is around! ha... but anyway, yea, I started class again on Monday and this weekend I'm off to a leadership conference in DC. It should be exiting... we get to tour the new APhA headquarters and get a little tour of DC while we are there!

A little quote from vacay... Bethany: "Como se llama?"; Dad: "Rolling Stones"

    haha =)

  • oh, alma mater...

Imagine you apply to a college.... you get a welcome email from that college... and then TWO HOURS later get another email saying "Ooops, sorry, our mistake... we actually DIDN'T accept you". Well, if you haven't seen it in the news, apparently that's what my awesome alma mater just did. Earlier this month, they sent out the regular acceptance letters, but then yesterday they accidentally sent out a 'welcome to the college' email to ALL of the students that applied, leaving about 29,000 people with a very VERY false hope. I still love that school... would recommend it to anyone and everyone, but man was that a major mix-up!

    Read the NBC story here.

  • funny fact of the day

Did you know that Nobel Prize nominations and all information concerning them are kept private for 50 years?! So really, you could tell someone that you were nominated and they couldn’t prove otherwise! By the time the 50 years are up, they probably would have forgotten… or you would be dead anyway! I learned that in the book I just finished… it’s a hilarious book if you ever want to learn more than you ever wanted to know about the science of sex (it's a real TMI sort of book... but it sure is crazy to read about some of the studies people do out there!). It was recommended by my anatomy teacher who was reading it while I was taking her class last year. A quote from the book: “Your genes want you to get pregnant, and hormones are their magic wand” lol. This woman (Mary Roach) has also written “Stiff: The Curious Life of Human Cadavers” and “Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife” which also sound very intriguing... lol

Also, I just found this quote on a slip of paper while cleaning off my desk: “I have black lung in my skin… and it’s, like, coming out!” -Heather LOL… that’s what we get for living in the coal country.

PS. CONGRATS to Ash and Logan who got engaged!!!!  I love you guys!!!!

  • ans/cns

I have never in my life been quite so excited to see a grade as I was just now. This class has been insane to say the very LEAST, with a TON of stuff going on outside of school as well. Anyway, somehow I pulled it off... =) Suddenly all the sleepless nights and stress of so many things became worth it just after seeing that one little letter posted on the class website.

Thank you for those of you that have kept me going through this tough time, seriously. It has been a very tough time the last few weeks because of so many things, but everything is alright. It really is.

    xoxo, Ky

  • oh what a wonderful week

I was planning to stay at school this evening to study after class... but after not getting out of lab until almost 6 and then having about four people make comments about how tired I look... I had to get out of there. I can handle the being tired part, but my eyes always give me away and then I really can't handle the "oh you look so tired" part. No good. Anyway... after some coffee and chicken nuggets, I am hoping for this night to be very productive. Wish me luck!!! =)

  • feeling a little thixotropic

yep... that's right... just shake me up a little like a pseudoplastic non-neutonian fluid... and I'm off! Ok, well not exactly... but now that I have actually started SERIOUSLY studying at a constant rate... I am pretty much unstoppable... until I lose the motivation... so I'm not going to let myself lose the motivation!!!

Ok, nevermind. Anyway... final exam for pharmaceutics tomorrow. HAVE to do well. And I WILL do well... because after a not-so-great communications exam that I studied for pretty much the morning of this morning... I need this.

Only about 10 days and I'll be back in Cali! wooooo....

I need to go turn on some christmas tunes... for inspiration...

I know. I know. I've completely lost it...
