Just a little update on the knee... had surgery last Thursday (a fairly minor lateral menisectomy), stopped using crutches on Tuesday, and as of today I am walking without a limp. I had my second and last post-op appointment today in which he took out my stitches and said that I could start on the stationary bike now and start a gradually-increasing running program in about 5 weeks. My cartilage is cracked in that area of my knee, which he thinks is leftover from my ACL injury back in the day, and he sees signs of the beginning of arthritis. So pretty much I might be having problems with this knee for the rest of my life, but as long as I keep up on my excercise and what not, it should not be too bad (I hope). So that's the news. Good stuff.
Let's see... we recently considered getting me into a newer car but instead decided to fix up my baby and hope that she keeps me going for a while! Today I got a bike rack for her so that I can bring my bike over to Virginia (and I got a pretty new helmet... Logan would be proud, I am being safe!). She will probably be in the shop until next Tuesday or Wednesady when I will finally get her back and pack everything in to head out on Thursday!
It is all coming so fast that it really hasn't hit me yet that I am leaving. I'm thinking once I get there, start school, and am about three weeks in, it might finally hit me! I'll be sitting there and all of a sudden realize, 'oh my goodness... I don't think I'm in California anymore...'. Yep, that's about how it will go. Anyway, I am nowhere near being ready to go when it comes to packing because I am being my normal self and putting everything off until the last possible moment! Oh well, I know it will all get done because it has to.
We ran into Kevin today at the post office; he was getting all packed today too since he is heading out on Saturday (so soon!). So, yea... It sure sounds like he is being a lot better about packing than me. He's taking the train all the way over to Harvard (bleh... yes, the smarty pants is going to Harvard Law). The train thing is cool and I would sooo love to do something like that.. but trains don't stop in Grundy. There is one that passes through, I looked it up. But nothing stops there
lol. And besides, I will need my car to get to school due to the lack of public transportation... so whatev.
Alright, well there has probably been more going on but I really can't think of anything and I'm going to go sit on the bike now (woo hoo).
Oh, and we mapquested the road trip we are about to take... talk about good times. It took four pages to print out all of the directions... it is about 2,770 or so miles (which means about 5 and a half trips to San Diego!) and is going to take a full four days of driving to complete (plus of course a little stop over to visit the fam in Texas). So seriously... who would not be looking forward to that!?!
