  • safer to stay indoors

oh man… so I just went running because it is an amazingly beautiful day outside. but so… there I was, running along… went to the beach (which by the way still confuses me… I can not figure out the tides for my life! but that’s beside the point). So I had to go along this little path to get up from the beach, and there was a dog in the way. A person on the beach called the dog… it ran past me… and I of course got distracted watching the dog as I started running again, didn’t notice the overgrown bush in front of me… it caught onto my earphones… they went flying off my ears… my ipod ripped from it’s clip on my shorts…flying into the dirt as I tripped in the gutter and went flying the other direction. Got going again… everything was alright. Recovered my ipod… walked about three feet. Had to duck under another branch… my hair got stuck in the branch. It took a good amount of effort to get that out…

Now that I made it back to the house I don’t think I’m going anywhere else today. It’s just not safe…

ps. hope my madre feels better soon. had surgery on her shoulder on friday. keep that pain pump in mommy dear!

  • gnu

Interesting fact:  Gnu is the three-letter name for the wildebeest. Colleen and I were trying to figure that out the other day… but I must say I had no idea! Anyway, she figured it out. It’s Gnu! You never know when that bit of information might come in handy!

    More interesting things:

Read these stats on plastic bags and you may reconsider throwing them out, or even using them at all! Seriously…

Also, you can exibit your kiss in the Kiss Museum, tell someone how much they mean to you, and help out someone in need at iamapeacekeeper.com

Since I finished watching all 10 seasons of Friends recently, I now have more time on my hands. It’s a little sad… but also liberating! :)

  • quote time

Currently listening to… and looking at… nothing. =( My external hard drive that conveniently holds all of my music and pictures has decided to die. I am currently letting it rest (I hid it from myself for a while so I wouldn’ t freak out too much), but I will try to get it working again later. But for now, just sadness. lol… and silence :(

So anyway, I found a bunch of quotes on random pieces of paper when I was cleaning the other day. Gotta love the quotes. Some, enjoyable for everyone! Others, you really would need to have been there! Anyway, here are a few of them:

“I’m kind of an everything pervert because I always have to touch everything” -Bethany

(Answering the phone) “Get out of the sink!!” – Kendra

“Well we’re in the car so we’re all friends” -Riss

“I have to use my finger to steer it.” -Kendra

“I did it with your mom.” -Bethany

“It’s old people and gay men… It doesn’t matter what you wear!” -Kendra

“Barry Bonds is good… so is Bethy” -Riss

“You guys can boogie… but you can’t dance!” -Kendra

“I’m surprised we haven’t kissed yet.” -Bethany

“If I had weird meat, I’d share it with YOU!” -Kendra

    “I got needs…” -Colleen (singing) … “They’re multiplyin’!” -Kendra … “That’s chills…” -Colleen

“But do things get blurry?” -Colleen … “Well, I don’t have my contacts in, so…” -Kendra

“Back in the day… really? There were no C’s!?” -Kendra

“We forked a little bit. Then we spooned… cause its always nice to spoon after forking. But when it comes down to it, you’ve just got to knife.” -the result of a very long utensil-ing conversation in palm springs

    “Zebra. Rarrr…” -Kendra

Now I’ve got to go get ready for a “White Trash and High Class” theme party at Huron that apparently we are not dressing up for because no wants to but me. And, sure I could be cool and dress up anyway… but it’s probably just not going to happen.

    xoxo, Ky

p.s. happy valentines day to all and happy birthday to those that passed by and I did not acknowledge

  • snowflakes

Okay… so I’ve been making snowflakes. If you haven’t heard of it, there is a site called stumble. I actually joined but haven’t used it much yet. It’s pretty cool though… as the name suggests, it brings you to random sites that you would never in a million years find on your own… some that you would never necessarily want to find in the first place. It’s a pandora.com for websites. Anyway, so Brant sends me some of the the cool sites that he stumbles on… here are a few:

    Seriously… THESE RABBITS are HUGE!!!

things to do at home when you are bored“ –  If you ever get THIS bored… please, I beg of you.. call a friend, go to the grogery store, eat a pickle, I don’t know…

so anyway, THIS SITE lets you make snowflakes. You can make them and then save them in the gallery. Some people are insane…talk about cool snowflakes! ha… i’m just a little jealous. oh, but check out a few of the ones that I just made… they’re super cool:

  • 2007

So… 2007. Seems like it’ll be a good year, don’t you think? I think so.

Today was the first day back at school. I copied Kendra this quarter and went all crazy with organization. Yep… i’m actually pretty excited about it… colorful labeled binders… lots of different kinds of paper… and perhaps even highlighters that are color coordinated.

Anyway, enough of that excitement. Tonight, I am going to play pool. Yes, pool. Courtney and I have joined Z’s pool team (wednesday nights.. good stuff.. if ever you are around, you should come cheer us on). So anyway, I don’t think Z is very trusting of our mad pool skills… so we’re going to practice.

Also, Ash and I are going to start running again! I’m putting it here, in writing, just so that I feel more obligated to follow through. Not that I wouldn’t… since I’ll have Ash there with me… but still… it’s tough.

Well, gotta go… it’s too cold in here.

  • noisy neighbors

A year ago today… it was Sunday… and I was in Venice. Lynn was down from Germany visiting. By this time of night, we were possibly on the train back to Siena. Tuesday would be an italian language test and a trip to San Gimignano after class. Saturday would be a day of wandering around Florence before meeting up with the family… and next week would be a Thanksgiving celebration at Antonio’s castle before a quick trip up to Torino (including a stop in Genova) followed by an all-nighter on the train, a nap in Empoli, and again meeting up with the family for a few hours in Siena on Sunday.

Today today… it is Monday… and I am sitting in my apartment putting off finishing my lab report. My neighbors apparently have problems with their plumbing… because I don’t think they could be much louder if they tried. I will soon be leaving for salsa class… only to return to piles of homework and reading… and an apartment with waaay too much cat drama. (SERIOUSLY… I think they are about to come through the wall!) grr… but anyway, next week is thanksgiving again so I will be going home wednesday… one of the busiest travel days of the year. It’s all good tho, because everyone seems to be going home for the holiday… so I’ll get to see people… and the fam of course :)

Now, I think I’m going to go yell at my neighbors… before they make it all the way into my shower…

Went to visit Lynn and Trish on Friday. veeery exiting. Bethany and I drove up to Irvine for one of trisha’s last home games ever. That’s so crazy.

Anyway, I just wanted to state my excitement that it is almost thanksgiving. And then almost winter break. I am preparing myself by starting the christmas music in november this year. Not that you need it to be winter for christmas music, but it feels a little more fitting when it’s at least a little bit cool outside. It kinda sorta almost rained last night. That was exciting, because for the last week or so it has been crazy warm. 80s? 90s? I don’t know; somewhere around there. But it’s Novemer. It’s not supposed to be warm in November.

I am sooo not supposed to be online right now. I should go.

    xoxo.

  • deal or no deal

So, I saw this guy on my way to work the other day. Friday… I believe it was friday afternoon. Anyway though, this guy had a mostly-shaven head, except for the bottom half of the back of his head. That part was in dreadlocks.

I just thought it was interesting. Not something you see every day.

Oh, and here are a few pics from Halloween :)

  • super-early onset alzheimer’s

As it turns out… I have a problem. I may soon become patient zero for super-early onset alzheimer’s. Kendra thinks my memory is actually getting worse, if that is at all possible. Just in the last few days.. lets see.. friday I locked myself (along with the four other people that were with me) out of the house because I forgot my keys. Last night I went out and left my id and phone. Then just a few hours ago, Colleen and I went to rent a movie, and I of course left my keys on the table.. again. You’d think I would learn. But no. The last time I went to dance.. one guy introduced himself, and I repeated it back to him (you know, because they say that is a good way to help yourself remember names) but the name I repeated back apparently was nothing near what he had just said two seconds before. Don’t even get me started on my school schedule. Every quarter, it will be tenth week and there I am, wandering around, schedule in hand, checking times and locations of my classes. I know it is possible for me to remember things. I can list for you each stage of glycolosis or krebs, along with who knows what other metabolic pathways which have recently been embedded into my brain.. but when it comes to the everyday… I’m afraid there isn’t much hope for me. I am currently looking into what I can do to remedy this problem… memory exercises maybe? But in the meantime, I guess the moral of the story is… if you are telling me something that you actually want me to remember, first off make sure I am consciously listening ((do you ever find yourself in the middle of a conversation or in a class or something… and you KNOW that you aren’t actually listening… you think about the fact that you have no idea what the person is saying to you… but you can’t make yourself do anything about it?!?)), and beyond that… maybe tell me that I need to remember, repeat it a few times and just hope for the best.

A few of our halloween costume ideas: a variety of public officials, the fantanas, “the beach” aka different things you may find in such a wonderful place, a hamburger including the sexy tomato and sesame bun… wherein, when standing together, you have a complete and delicious burger… not sure who would have been the meat tho…lol, let see.. what else, fear factor contestants (I think that may be next year), flight attendants, national monuments, the girls from one tree hill (too normal to pull off as a costume), and the one I may do someday when I have no one to dress up with.. sherlock holmes :)

The winning idea: Deal or No Deal girls with Brant as Howie Mandel. I will have to post a picture once I steal one from bethany or kendra. My camera is currently lacking batteries, so no pictures for me :( But it turned out great. We found silver cases, matching dresses, and excessively large earrings… all matching (It was bethany, kendra, colleen and I). Of course, considering halloween is not actually here yet, we are not done with the fun… but most of our celebrating was done friday night. We put on a dinner party (kendra mostly, but I helped her out). I’d have to say it was a success. Then it was off to michelle and amy’s. But yea, Kendra and I are definatly going to have a fun tuesday in lab this week…

  • the white car

The other day as colleen and I were walking home, we saw a white car on the side of the road. It was parked the wrong direction, and it was nowhere near a parking spot. We just figured it was someone parking illegally, but then colleen found this article. It may not be the same one, but it was the same time… and either way, even if that was a different car, this is kinda scary. This is directly outside my apartment:
