  • my roommate bob

Yes. That is my new name for Z… it is no longer just Pumpkin. It is now Bob. Or Pumpkin Bob… or maybe even Bob the Pumpkin.

There is actually a very specific chain of reasons why… having something to do with Ray our apartment complex guy that we call Bob and something to do with Rachel Ray… (eww..) so… that is all I can say.

    Happy Thursday

  • ooo… just found a pin on the floor… that was a close one…

seems that I dropped the ball… fell off the wagon… whatever other phrases you can use for that… I was doing so well… but anywho… here I am again.

I really think that THIS is what Toula does to me in the night… yes, she beats me. I wake up to that “sweet” little “innocent” face… but I know the truth. Z agrees with me. He woke up one day and had scratches all over… we think it was her.

Right now I am feelin the pain. I don’t know if I am still sore from last Wednesday when I did weights (totally pathetic, I know)… or what. The (only) other possibility is that I have been bitten by some rare form of deadly spider/bug/unknowable creature… yesterday I took a shower and realized that I had some sort of bites and now I am sore. I think the venom has reached my muscles and they are slowly deteriorating away to nothing. NOTHING! ahhh, man. that’s just a bummer. but seriously, it hurts… I don’t know what is wrong. Bethany tried to give me a bunch of expired allergy/itch-stopping products… but I’m not sure they healed me very well…

So…. no more complaining… I just wanted to drop in and write a little something. OH, I also forgot something else in the kitchen today. Seriously, Marissa and I could never live together. She would kill me for sure. But, yea, so I wanted to hard boil some eggs. Put them in the pan and put it on to boil…. then went to do my meditation for the day and fell asleep for an hour. What can ya do…. came back and almost all of the water had boiled away and it smelled a little funny. Not bad… just a little eggish. Anyway, that’s what is new with me.

  • 129 emails!?!

yea… that’s all I wanted to say. I just checked and I have 129 emails… WHAT IS THAT!? ahhh. it is overwhelming; that’s what it is. I just don’t like to go through it very often… but then it gets all backed up like it is now and I regret not going through it more! Anyway, if you ever email me and I don’t respond right away… you know what, that’s probably why! :)

  • can you keep a secret?

Bethany and I today were talking about that site… the one where people send in their secrets and they are posted anonymously online (here). So then, of course I started thinking about what my secrets are… if I have any.

Well… I thought of one thing. It will be my secret in May.

In May, I will be pushing for people to oppose one of the propositions on the June ballot in San Diego…. but I myself am not even a registered San Diego voter.

    *shhh*

  • atom quote

I enjoyed this one so I thought I would share…

“It would be a poor thing to be an atom in a Universe without physicists. And physicists are made of atoms. A physicist is the atom’s way of knowing about atoms” -George Wald

  • saturday movies

Two movies I’ve been wanting to see for a while… finally got to see them yesterday.

The Other Boleyn Girl – Good… but as compared to what I was hoping for based on the book it was an utter disappointment. I understand, yes, of course you can’t fit everything from the story into two hours… but it just seemed like it had so much potential. And instead it ended up missing the entire buildup… skipping around with events out of order and having people die for the wrong reasons. I don’t know… just didn’t do it for me.

Juno – It’s a good thing we saw this one second, because it completely made the day of movies worth it. Wonderful. Loved it. A simple movie with a lot of heart.

Teared up at one point or another in both of the movies.. but that’s just normal.

Now, it’s time for homework and laundry… woot.

  • national public health week

Yes… that’s right… next week is National Public Health Week! Check out the website to see how climate change has an impact on our health and learn the little things you can do to help! :)

And, if you happen to be in London… go ahead and stop by the John Snow Pub this week in honor of John Snow who, as I recently learned in medical micro, was considered to be the very first epidemiologist! This pub was later placed directly on the site of the water pump which caused the cholera outbreak in 1854. Back in that time, Snow suspected that the outbreak was caused by contaminated water… saw that most of the cases were around this pump on Broad Street… got the handle of the pump removed… and the epidemic stopped! From this was born the scientific study of epidemics… a very wonderful sector of public health!

  • picture time

So… here are a few random pictures I have to share.

First off… my sis chopped off her hair!!! It looks wonderful, and dude… ~16 inches gone and it still is that long… my goodness! It’s crazy!

    Before & After:

     DSCN0577 DSCN0579 DSCN0580

    Hottness (see above).

Also, I think I may have let my fish sticks sit in the oven a teeeny bit too long the other day:

    DSCN2028

…poor guys; they never saw it coming

And lastly, I just went to eat a graham cracker. Opened the package… and pulled this out:

    DSCN2116

…I’m not sure what to think about this. All of the rest in the package were normal!

Also, as it is 10:17 on a Saturday morning, I should be getting home from running, but in case you didn’t know… I can’t do that anymore. At least temporarily. I’m trying not to accept the option that I am done… but I have a very probable stress fracture in my right leg and was told to stay off of it for the next few weeks until I get the bone scan or it will just get worse! Speaking of which, I should probably go get some ice.

Everything else is great. I start UCSD again on Monday. I have reading that I could do for anatomy this weekend, which I might do, but other than that… this is my wonderful vacation and I have been livin it up! (doing absolutely nothing and it’s been great).

    xoxo, Ky

ps. if you ever get the chance to watch or participate in the Bollywood Dance Workout With Hemalayaa (see above)… I suggest you take that wonderful opportunity. :) actually, I tried it and it hurt my leg so I had to stop… but I showed it to Z and he thoroughly enjoyed it as well! lol… our favorite part: “Feed the chickens…” oh man, it’s so great!

  • accents

Currently watching: Vinasaya Yoga with David Sunshine (hehe)

First, I just have to say that I have decided on my theme for spring break this year. Yes, every year has to have a theme. This year is: “Spring Break TWICE!!! … Double your pleasure, Double your fun, Double your spring break time in the sun!”

… ok, so maybe I stole part of that. But it is a beautiful thing and I thank my lucky stars that my spring breaks overlapped the way they did or I would probably have died of anxiety by now. It has made finals week all the more enjoyable knowing I don’t have to worry about anatomy… and don’t even get me started on next week… that is just two free days of goodness!

Anyway, I just have to make a note about how wonderful accents are. And the people who have them (yes, I am wonderful too when I speak all of my non-native languages and when I speak English in foreign countries). So I called to make my follow-up appointment with my orthopedist this morning, and a nice fellow answers. You see, with an accent like that, I feel that I can’t just call him some guy or some dude… he should be called a cheery fellow, or a chap… a genteel lad perhaps. Now, a note about my interpretation of accents… if you have ever heard me try to speak with one then you know… but when that happens, no matter what accent I originally try for, it ends up a jumbled mess of British/Australian/Irish/Italian/mumbojumbo, so to be honest I’m not even sure what type of accent he had. Nevertheless, just listening to him ask me for my medical records number gave me as much satisfaction as a warm day on the beach with a giant piece of chocolate cake! I couldn’t help but smile as I said “yes, blue cross is my insurance provider”. And as I hung up the phone, I realized… that chap probably just put me into a good mood all day. Just by talking for 3 minutes with that wonderful voice. Plus, he double-booked me in for next week since the next available appointment wasn’t until the end of April… so that pretty much bumps him up to the top of my list for the day.

And by the way, Happy St. Patty’s Day! (that, in my head just now, was said in a very terrible irish accent in case you were wondering)

  • embryo mix-up

Oh my goodness… how does something like this happen!?

Ooops.. sorry, I implanted the wrong embryos into your uterus…I realized what happened when I did it, but decided to wait and tell you nine months after your baby was born… yes, your son is actually the product of that other nice couple that was in my office that day.

Man… if I ever plan to have my future children through implantation, please remind me to make sure I have an organized doctor. Seriously…
